Capture2

This hidden gem,  (available with Office Professional 2013,  2016, and Office 365 ProPlus) makes it easy to compare two workbooks, interactively. You can see how values, formulas, and formatting differ – line by line, and cell by cell, highlighting just the type of differences you specify.

To Use Spreadsheet Compare

  1. Find and launch the app by clicking Start then typing ‘Spreadsheet Compare’.
  2. Click Compare Files. The Compare Files dialog appears.
    Capture
  3. Click the folder icon to select the older and newer files, then click OK.

  1. Yes! Isn’t it great? So glad you’ve highlighted this functionality! I found it last spring because someone in one of my classes asked me if it was possible to compare two worksheets. I always research those kinds of requests, but I wasn’t expecting to find anything. Imagine my surprise! Created a quick reference which has received some traffic, a like, and even a follow-up question on my current client’s Jive site. I measure success as any kind of response. 😉
